A man was hospitalized after a shooting outside a Deerfield Beach pub last month, and authorities announced Tuesday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to North Broward Hospital just before 3 a.m. on Nov. 2 after a man arrived with multiple gunshot wounds.
Deputies said hospital staff reported that a woman driving a silver Honda Accord had dropped the victim off.
Investigators later located the Honda Accord near the 2400 block of Northwest Ninth Street in Pompano Beach, where they found blood in the backseat of the car, the report stated.
Deputies said the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Porthole Pub, located at 501 E. Sample Rd. Shell casings were recovered from the scene, and a crime scene was established, according to the report.
Deputies said surveillance footage revealed that the victim had been near a food truck in the parking lot before walking toward the pub’s entrance and hugging a woman.
The suspect, who deputies identified as 30-year-old R C, was seen approaching the rear of a silver SUV parked nearby and firing multiple shots at the victim. C then fled the scene in a blue sedan, deputies said.
Authorities said the victim, who was transported to the hospital by the woman in his Honda Accord, was reported to be in stable condition following surgery.
Deputies said the victim could not recall details of the shooting due to intoxication, stating only that he remembered being shot and waking up in the hospital.
Investigators tracked C through his cellphone records, which placed him at the scene of the shooting until 4 a.m. Deputies said C initially agreed to surrender but later changed his mind.
Deputies said C was taken into custody on Sunday and is being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail on a charge of first-degree attempted murder.
Authorities have not a released a motive for what led to the shooting at this time.
