Deputies: Intoxicated man’s tree shooting rampage sends stray bullets into DeLand mobile home

Deputies had to evacuate a mobile home in DeLand after stray bullets from a nearby intoxicated shooter hit the residence Sunday.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after a mobile home was hit with shots. Inside the house were three adults and two children.

Deputies said they were able to determine the shots were from a nearby resident who was shooting at a tree while intoxicated. He fired about a dozen rounds.

The intoxicated man missed a couple of rounds, which led to stray bullets going into the mobile home, according to deputies.

The man was identified as 38-year-old Alex Jordan Kudlack.

Deputies said nobody was injured during the incident.

Kudlack is now facing:

  • One count of shooting into a dwelling
  • One count of using a firearm while under the influence
  • One count of criminal mischief (causing $1,300 estimated damage)
  • Two counts of child endangerment
