Deputies investigating man hit and killed by train in Cantonment

A man is dead after being hit by a train on Monday afternoon in the Cantonment area, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says.

The southbound train hit a man between Archer and Old Chemstrand roads around 4:20 p.m. in Gonzalez.

According to NorthEscambia, the train blocked the Old Chemstrand crossing after it came to a stop, causing traffic problems in the area.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. They say traffic congestion will continue in the area.
