Deputies: Navarre man arrested for domestic violence after woman leaves note in bathroom

Deputies: Navarre man arrested for domestic violence after woman leaves note in bathroom

A Navarre man was arrested on domestic violence charges after the victim reportedly left a note asking for help inside a Navarre business’ bathroom on Tuesday.

Santa Rosa County deputies arrested 34-year-old JW early Wednesday morning on these charges:

  • Felony – Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Felony – Kidnap/False Imprisonment
  • Felony – Battery
  • Felony – Battery by Strangulation
  • Misdemeanor – Battery

According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were told of a “suspicious note” found inside the restroom of a local business.

“The note written by the victim identified herself and indicated she was being held against her will at a nearby residence and feared for her life,” the sheriff’s office said in a release.

Deputies used surveillance video, prior case records and witness interviews to identify Williams as the suspect. The sheriff’s office says W has a documented history of domestic violence incidents with its agency.

Deputies executed a search warrant at W’ home, where they found an adult woman who confirmed to deputies she wrote the distress note.

The victim reportedly told deputies about a series of assaults and threats involving weapons. She said she was held in isolation for a span of several months.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies observed the woman to have visible injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of suspected broken bones and other trauma.

W was arrested and booked into the county jail without incident. He is set to appear in court Thursday for a bond hearing.

Sheriff Bob Johnson issued this statement:

This case represents the strength of coordinated work by my staff and the bravery of the victim. Thanks to her courage and the deputies’ swift actions, she is now safe and receiving care.

The sheriff’s office says that if you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, call the Florida Domestic Violence hotline at 1-800-500-1119 or call 911. Help is available 24/7.
