A 61-year-old Pensacola man is charged with attempted homicide for beating his roommate during an argument about someone smoking in the house, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
WJR was arrested Tuesday night on the charge. He is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond.
The incident happened Sunday at a home on Rawls Avenue.
According to the sheriff’s office, R and his roommate got into a physical altercation over someone smoking in the house.
Deputies say R beat his roommate with a pole.
R called in the incident to deputies, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies arrived to find the victim with lacerations to his face. The victim was then transported to the hospital.
After investigation, the sheriff’s office determined the victim’s injuries were severe enough to charge R with attempted homicide.
