Deputies search for driver in Stuart hit-and-run that injured bicyclist

A bicyclist was injured in a Stuart hit-and-run Saturday, and deputies are now searching for the driver who fled the scene.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) say they’re searching for a car involved in a hit-and-run that occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Federal Highway just south of the Summerfield development in Stuart, per deputies.

According to MCSO, the vehicle is a red or burgundy SUV that may have visible damage to the front bumper, driven by a man.

Deputies say the driver fled the scene without stopping.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver is urged to call MCSO.
