Deputy hospitalized in T-bone crash while responding to wreck in St. Lucie County

A St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputy is in the hospital after she was in a T-bone crash on Wednesday morning. 

According to Sheriff Keith Pearson, deputies were responding to another crash, located at Indrio and Old Dixie Road, at around 10:30 a.m. 

As deputies cleared the intersection to travel through another vehicle T-boned the deputy’s vehicle as they were attempting to respond to the first crash. 

The preliminary investigation by the sheriff’s office revealed that the vehicle did not use its brakes when the collision occurred. 

According to the sheriff, the deputy was airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital with serious injuries that were non-life threatening.
