Deputy injured in a crash on Highway 231

On Wednesday, a deputy and two others were seriously injured after a crash in the northbound lanes of U.S. 231.

At about 12:50 p.m., a Bay County Sheriff’s deputy was traveling southbound on State Road 75, turning left onto Cherokee Heights Road. The Florida Highway Patrol said the deputy turned, he turned into the path of a pickup truck traveling north on State Road 75 in the inside left lane. Troopers said the front of the pickup truck collided with the passenger side of the deputy’s vehicle. According to FHP, both vehicles came to a rest in the intersection.

The deputy and two others in the pickup truck were transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay with injuries, authorities said.
