Discharged patient arrested after pushing nurse at Leesburg hospital

A Webster woman was arrested for battery after pushing a nurse at UF Health Leesburg Hospital because she got “too close” to her.

An officer responded to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, located at 600 E. Dixie Ave., regarding a battery at 10:17 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer met with a female nurse who advised that she pushed by a patient, later identified as 31-year-old BMK, who had been discharged. The nurse was walking down a hallway near the emergency room entrance. She observed Kendrick yelling profanities and banging on the walls, the report said.

The nurse recognized K from prior hospital visits, but she did not know her personally. She had not had any altercations with her in the past either. However, K walked up to the nurse and pushed her chest with two open hands, the report said.

The nurse told K not to touch her, to which she raised a closed fist while standing close to her. She did not hit her again, though. K instead asked to be taken to another facility and left without further incident, the report said.

The officer went to the LifeStream Behavioral Center, located at 2020 Tally Rd., where K had been transported. He met with her, read her rights and asked what happened at the hospital. She admitted to hitting someone because they were getting too close to her, the report said.

K was subsequently arrested and transported the LPD for the booking process. While sitting in the booking area, she began to yell and slap the bench she was sitting on. She continued to yell as she punched and hit her head against the wall, the report said.

K was immediately taken to taken to Lake County Jail on charge of simple battery (law enforcement officer, firefighter, EMT, etc.). Bond was set at $5,000.
