A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy got his face and arm injured after a dog attacked him while he was trying to arrest its owner.
Duke Energy employees called law enforcement after they said TP, 28, was stealing utilities at her house. The employees told deputies she released her dogs at them just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Facebook post.
When the deputy arrives, T spoke with him but then called 911. When he tried to arrest her, he was attacked by a Great Dane. Officials said he suffered injuries to his arm and eye.
Additional deputies responded and took her into custody.
An investigation revealed she was stealing electricity from Duke Energy after they had cut the power from her home. The county’s animal control responded and recovered a second Great Dane in extremely poor conditions. The two dogs were removed from the property, according to officials.
P was booked into jail on numerous charges included aggravated battery, assault, resisting with violence and theft of utility services, to name a few.
