A dog was rescued from a burning duplex on Tuesday afternoon, the fire leaving six people displaced.
The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD)said firefighters responded to a fire at 5203LaSalle Street at around 5:30 p.m. and found the duplex on fire.
All occupants inside the duplex were able to get out safely, however, crews had to go inside the burning building to rescue a dog from one of the units.
Less than an hour later, at 5:57 p.m., the fire was extinguished. However, the flames had already done its damage.
Photos taken at the scene, show an exterior wall exposed from the fire, and parts of the grass scorched.
The Red Cross was called to assist six displaced residents. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to SLCFD.
