DoorDash driver arrested for firing gun on Baseline Road

A 21-year-old Belleview man is facing felony charges after claiming that he fired a gun multiple times while doing a DoorDash delivery because another vehicle allegedly cut him off on Baseline Road.

On Friday, October 18, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a business located in the 10500 block of SE 58th Avenue (Baseline Road) in reference to someone firing gunshots out of a Saturn SUV while traveling southbound on the roadway, according to the arrest report.

The deputy spoke with several employees who advised that they heard approximately “three to seven” gunshots that were fired “very close to the road.” The report indicated that the business was not struck by the gunfire, and no one was injured.

In addition, the deputy spoke with a male witness who was traveling directly behind the Saturn SUV on SE 58th Avenue when someone in the vehicle allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired “six to seven times.” The report stated that the witness was able to provide the SUV’s license plate number, which belonged to an individual who resided on SE 55th Court in Belleview.

At the SUV owner’s residence, the deputy observed the vehicle. The deputy then made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified in the report as Michael Timothy Breuer. He claimed that he is a delivery driver for DoorDash and was completing an order on Baseline Road at the time of the incident.

Breuer further stated that one of his friends was in the SUV with him. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy allegedly located a .22 caliber round on the floorboard, directly behind the driver’s seat.

After being read his Miranda rights, Breuer denied firing a gun while in the vehicle, and he further stated that he only owns a shotgun. When asked about the .22-caliber casing found in the vehicle, he stated that his friend has a long rifle, and they both “shoot it from time to time” in the forest, according to the report.

During the post-Miranda interview, Breuer allegedly admitted that video surveillance footage would show him “shooting out of the vehicle.” The report stated that Breuer advised he “became infuriated” when another vehicle “cut him off” near the intersection of SE 58th Avenue and SE 92nd Loop.

As a result, Breuer allegedly told the deputy that he fired several rounds out of his vehicle due to his anger. When he returned to his residence, he gave the firearm to a relative to “put in (a) safe.” The deputy noted in the report that the firearm was recovered from the home and secured as evidence.

In a separate interview, Breuer’s friend admitted to being a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the incident, though he denied discharging a firearm. The friend further claimed that he does not own any guns.

Breuer was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. He was released the following day after posting a $20,000 bond, and he is facing the following charges: discharging a firearm from a vehicle within 100 feet of a person and using or displaying a firearm during the commission of a felony.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, according to jail records.
