Driver Arrested After Pedestrian Intentionally Struck Outside Delray Beach Farmers Market

DELRAY BEACH, FL – A 73-year-old driver has been arrested after allegedly striking a pedestrian intentionally outside The Boy’s Farmers Market on Sunday afternoon, according to the Delray Beach Police Department.

Emergency responders were dispatched around 12:16 p.m. to the market located at 14378 South Military Trail following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. Officers arrived to find an injured man on a curb in the north parking lot suffering from visible trauma to his lower left leg and an injury to his hand. According to investigators, the victim was walking toward the store entrance when a white vehicle accelerated toward him; the pedestrian pushed away, avoiding a direct impact, but was struck on his lower leg. Detectives stated that the motorist admitted to waiting in a parking space before accelerating toward the pedestrian. The driver now faces serious felony charges.
