Driver charged with DUI manslaughter after pedestrian dies at Leesburg hospital

A Leesburg man has been arrested for DUI manslaughter after fatally hitting a pedestrian with his truck. 

KEC, 37, was driving a 2012 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Radio Road toward Patrick Drive at 9:10 p.m. Monday, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol. At the same time, a 75-year-old man from Leesburg was walking on Radio Road.

C hit the pedestrian, and he was taken to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, located at 600 E Dixie Ave., where he was pronounced dead. After the collision, C fled the scene. He was later brought back by a family member and arrested by the FHP on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and DUI manslaughter. 

He was taken to Lake County Jail with bond set at $40,000. The crash remains under an active criminal investigation.
