Driver dies after slamming into rear of dump truck in New Smyrna Beach

One person has been killed in a dump truck crash in New Smyrna Beach Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it happened just before midnight in the area of SR-44 and North Cucumber Lane.

Officials say the 64-year-old driver of a Toyota Corolla failed to slow for a dump truck and slammed into the back of the vehicle.

The Corolla driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
