Driver flees scene of fatal pedestrian crash, arrested after returning to scene

 An 18-year-old driver was arrested after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run on Wednesday evening in Manatee County, Florida Highway Patrol announced.

According to FHP, around 10:32 p.m., a vehicle was on US-41 near 63rd Avenue North when the vehicle collided with a pedestrian walking his bicycle.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and checked on the pedestrian before fleeing the scene of the crash, FHP said.

After some time, the driver returned to the scene of the crash where he was arrested for leaving a crash scene involving death.

The 18-year-old was taken to the Manatee County Jail, according to FHP.

The pedestrian, a 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
