Driver hospitalized after crashing into canal at Fort Myers Country Club

One person was hospitalized after crashing into a Fort Myers canal on Friday afternoon.

According to FMPD, a pickup truck driver suffered from a medical episode.

He reportedly drove off southbound Cleveland Avenue, across the golf course, and into the water near Golfview Boulevard.

The Fort Myers Police Department, Fort Myers Fire Department, and Lee County EMS all responded to the incident.

After the driver was rescued from the rocky canal bank, he was taken to an area hospital for treatment and to determine the exact medical issue.
