A driver slammed into a Sebring police officer’s patrol car as the cop was responding to another car crash on Friday afternoon.

The police department said around 12:30 p.m., the officer was in the area of Thunderbird and US Hwy 27, responding to a collision with his lights and sirens activated, when he was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Bayview and US Hwy 27 N.

Photos released by the Sebring Police Department show significant damage to the left side of the marked patrol vehicle, while the other driver’s vehicle sustained damage to the front.

The officer and the driver were both taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Officials said the cop sustained injuries from the incident but is “currently doing well.” The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.

The crash remains under investigation.

The identity of the other driver was not made known, and it is unclear if they will face charges.
