A driver trying to park a car crashed into a restaurant in The Villages.

The driver was trying to park the vehicle at about 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the Arby’s at Buffalo Ridge Plaza when the driver accidentally pressed down on the gas pedal causing the vehicle to jump the curb and strike the building, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The Villages Public Safety Department was called to the scene and to evaluate the building for structural integrity. The driver was transported to the UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital as a precaution.
