Martin County deputies are assisting Sewall’s Point police in the search for a driver who fled the scene of a crash.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says a sedan crashed along N. River Road in Sewall’s Point just before 11 a.m. on Saturday.

According to a post on MCSO’s Facebook page, deputies deployed a K-9 unit, along with road patrol and an aviation unit because MCSO believed the driver fled the scene of the crash on foot.

Deputies are advising the public to avoid the area if possible.

MCSO urges anyone who lives near N. River Road to be vigilant about their home’s surroundings.

Deputies have not announced a description of the driver at this time.
