Drivers met with backups after vehicle fire and crash on I-295 South

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of a vehicle fire on I-295 South, near the St. Johns Town Center.

According to FHP, it was reported around 4:05 p.m. Friday and three left lanes were blocked.

Earlier in the afternoon, traffic cameras along I-295 showed backups in the southbound lanes from Monument Road to St. Johns Bluff.

A pickup truck was disabled near the I-295 ramp from St. Johns Bluff.

It was towed away at 4:25 pm. but the backups were still ongoing.
