Drunk driver crashes car through dentist’s office in Clearwater strip mall

Clearwater Police and Fire Rescue teams secured the front of a plaza in clearwater after a driver lost control and crashed through the storefront.

A Clearwater driver, who was later charged with a DUI, crashed through the front of a dentist’s office after loosing control of her car early Sunday morning. Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue teams responded shortly before 7 a.m. at a strip mall on Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.

According to a report from the city’s public safety department, 22-year-old Danya Trejo of Clearwater was driving her 2010 Hyundai Sonata west on Gulf-to-Bay, when she suddenly veered out of control. Her car went over the median and across the eastbound lanes. Then it jumped the curb and crashed through the front door and window of Greenberg Dental, continuing through the wall before it finally stopped at the Skyline Chili restaurant next door.

Because of the early hour, neither business was open and had no one inside. Nobody was hurt. Trejo was charged with DUI. City workers came and secured the front of the building
