A drunk driving suspect was arrested after crashing into a Porsche and injuring the driver.
BWH, 24, of Summerfield, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup at about 2 a.m. Saturday northbound on U.S. Hwy. 441 at NE 136th Avenue when he noticed the light changing, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
H claimed his front tire “locked up” and his pickup struck the Porsche, which had stopped at a red light.
The man driving the Porsche suffered head trauma in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages. A woman passenger in the Porsche confirmed that Hhad been driving the pickup which crashed into their vehicle.
It appeared H had been drinking. A deputy spotted a Busch Light beer can “in close proximity” to the North Carolina native’s pickup.
He declined to participate in field sobriety exercises, claiming he suffers from “back problems.” He also refused to provide a breath sample.
He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,500 bond.
