Duke Energy contractor electrocuted in Largo

A Duke Energy contractor was taken to the hospital Thursday after he was electrocuted, according to Largo authorities.

Largo Fire Rescue said crews received a call regarding the medical emergency around 11:30 a.m. It was reported as an “electrical contact injury” in the 500 block of Keene Road.

Largo Fire units and Sunstar Paramedics performed advanced life support at the scene, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities did not immediately have any details on the man’s condition.

Duke Energy sent News Channel 8 the following statement regarding the incident:

“We are aware an incident occurred today in Largo involving a Duke Energy contractor. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, friends and co-workers.”
