A duplex home caught fire in the Pine Manor neighborhood just before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
South Trail Fire and Rescue responded to the fire where they said smoke and flames were visible through broken windows.
No one was home at the time of the fire, so crews had to force entry. The fire was quickly extinguished as additional crews searched the home.
South Trail Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was a malfunctioning stand-alone freezer that was in the living room.
The unit is heavily damaged and is not able to be lived in.
The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the three adults who have been displaced.
Firefighters say no pets were owned by the residents, no injuries were reported and crews have cleared the scene.
