Duval County crash kills two motorcyclists from Jacksonville, Florida Highway Patrol says

Two men from Jacksonville died on Sunday after they were involved in a crash on Interstate 295 in Duval County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said both men were driving motorcycles on the roadway around 1 p.m. when they struck each other in a “sideswipe type collision” that caused them both to lose control of their bikes.

One of the drivers was a 41-year-old man while the other driver was a 32-year-old man, FHP said. The 41-year-old was declared dead at the hospital while the 32-year-old man died at the scene.

The crash temporarily closed all lanes on Interstate 295 southbound at Old St. Augustine Road in Duval County for about five hours as crews worked to clean up the aftermath.
