Eight people displaced after Escambia County apartment complex fire

An apartment building suffered extensive damage from a fire in Escambia County on Tuesday evening, according to the Escambia Fire Rescue.

Escambia County Fire Rescue says they received a call at 9:15 p.m. about a fire on the 1700 block of East Johnson Avenue. They arrived at the P&P Apartments at 9:20 p.m.

The fire was brought under control by 11:26 p.m., according to responders.

Escambia County Fire Rescue says there were no injuries or fatalities, but eight people were displaced as a result of the fire.

ECFR conducted the cause and origin investigation and determined this was caused by an accidental cooking fire.

Assistance was provided by Pensacola Fire Department, EMS, Florida Power and Light, and the American Red Cross.
