An elderly man was killed after being struck by a Honda Civic that failed to stay on the scene on Sunday, according to a crash report.
The crash report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office stated that as of Monday, the woman behind the wheel of the Honda Civic had been located.
Deputies say on Sunday, a little before 6 p.m., the woman driving a 2016 Honda Civic was traveling south on North Dixie Highway in the inside lane, approaching the intersection of 16th Avenue North. Around the same time, an elderly man identified as Michael Brennan, 78, was crossing North Dixie Highway outside the crosswalk.
The traffic report says Brennan failed to yield the right-of-way to the Honda, causing it to strike the right side of his vehicle. The impact vaulted Brennan from the vehicle, and he came to rest between the northbound and southbound lanes.
Deputies say the driver of the Honda Civic did not remain at the scene to provide their information.
Brennan was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center and was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained, the traffic report says.
The crash report says charges are pending.
