An Alachua County Public Schools elementary school teacher was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after crashing into a tree.

Gainesville Police Department officers say DD, 67, crashed on Northwest 43rd Street trying to drive away on Tuesday night. She also reportedly hit a sign.

D told them she had to work early in the morning and they should take her home.

The school district has placed Davis, a second-grade teacher at Terwilliger Elementary School, on paid administrative leave.
