Englewood Area fire crews responded to a garage fire and saved a dog on Monday.
According to the Englewood Area Fire Control District, crews responded to a house fire on Fairway Drive in Rotonda in the afternoon.
When crews arrived, they discovered a garage fire and quickly worked to contain it and keep it from spreading, Englewood Fire said.
Additionally, a firefighter located the family dog, named Charlie, in a crate on the back porch. The crate was right beside a door where smoke was coming through, Englewood Fire said.
As a precaution, firefighters administered oxygen to Charlie using an oxygen mask specifically designed for animals.
Englewood Fire said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but that no one was injured and Charlie appeared to be unharmed.
