A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly accusing his wife of cheating and chasing her along with three houseguests around with a knife.
Officers responded to a stabbing at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 8:11 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised officers there was a subject with a knife running after people.
Upon arrival, the officers observed multiple people around the general area and 46-year-old S C H kneeling with both arms spread out. A profuse amount of blood was coming from his right hand. EMS was contacted, and he was turned over to them for medical treatment. An officer went with him while others spoke with his wife and three victims, the report said.
C H’ wife advised that they were in a verbal argument about him being jealous. They further argued, and they pushed each other with open hand strikes. He soon after grabbed a knife near him. She could not identify what it looked like, the report said.
The wife also stated she did not cut her husband with a knife. She instead separated from him and locked herself in the bathroom for protection. She did not provide further information and swore her statement was true, the report said.
An officer next spoke to the three victims who advised that they were in the living room drinking alcohol when C H accused his wife of cheating. They were later in a verbal argument about his accusations. He requested his car keys from her, which she refused, the report said.
C H grew frustrated, stood up and tried to strike his wife. The three victims intervened and tried to separate them from one another, causing him to become angrier. He struck the first victim in the right side of her stomach with an open hand, the second victim with a closed fist twice against her mouth and the third victim in the mouth with a closed fist, the report said.
While attempting to gain entry, C H noticed the third victim was still near him. He ran after him with the knife in his hand. The third victim feared for his life, and he tried to run around the residence to lock himself in the bathroom, the report said.
All three victims swore their statements were true and requested prosecution. When asked who was involved with what happened to C H’ right hand, they said the injury was caused by him and not anyone mentioned, the report said.
The victims were then checked for injuries. One the first victim, an officer observed redness near the right side of the stomach and near both her forearms. The second victim’s bottom lip was stolen, the right corner of her mouth had redness and the left side of her forehead had light scratches. The third victim had a cut between his lips, a cut in the middle of his chest and light scratches on the right side of his face. It was confirmed that the injuries and statements collected from them corroborated with each other’s statements, the report said.
The officers requested a consensual search of the residence for evidence relevant to the case, and the homeowner gave them permission. While searching, an officer observed a trail of blood spots leading from the northeast bedroom to the front door of the residence. There were also blood stains on the wall and empty bottles of beer located in the living room, all details that further corroborated the statements given by other parties, the report said.
The officer that went with C H said that he stated they were all sitting at the kitchen table drinking. He went to the restroom, and when he came back, he saw his wife of seven years kissing the third victim. He became enraged and charged his wife, the report said.
While attempting to strike her, his wife grabbed a knife and cut his hand. C H grabbed a separate knife near him and began to run after the third victim. He intended to grab him, the report said.
As the officer spoke with C H he observed his right thumb had a severe laceration closer to his knuckle bone. It was confirmed that it did not corroborate his story. No other knife was found with blood on it, which did not correspond with his statement of handling a second knife with his bloodied hand, the report said.
After being medically cleared, C H was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with intent to commit felony, simple battery and simple assault (domestic). The native of Colombia was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $9,000.
