An Ocala man who allegedly “turns into a different person” when intoxicated has been arrested for domestic battery after he allegedly consumed multiple alcoholic beverages and attacked his girlfriend in their home.
On Thursday, December 11, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence and made contact with the female victim. The arrest report stated that the victim had bruising under her left eye, along with a bruise on the right side of her cheek that was “approximately the size of a baseball.”
The deputy noted that the victim initially claimed that her injuries were from a “four-wheeler accident.” However, during an interview, the victim allegedly stated that her boyfriend, GDT, had caused the injuries.
The victim advised that T has a tendency to get “very upset” and “angry” when he is under the influence of alcohol. She told the deputy that she had been drinking alcohol with T the previous night when they got into an argument, according to the report.
During the verbal altercation, T allegedly punched the victim in the face, which made her feel “dizzy.” According to the report, T then allegedly placed his hands on the victim’s throat and neck, which “impeded her normal breathing.”
The report stated that “red and purple bruising” was observed on the victim’s neck and throat, which was “consistent with what she alleged.”
The deputy made contact with T at the incident location. After being read his Miranda rights, T stated that he “did not remember much of the [previous] night” because he had “consum(ed) a large quantity of alcohol,” according to the report.
T allegedly admitted that when he drinks alcoholic beverages, he typically “gets blacked out,” “turns into a different person,” and often “can’t remember what he did.” The report said that T recalled getting into an argument with the victim, and he saw “bruising and marks” on the victim the following morning after he “sobered up.”
T was placed under arrest and booked into Marion County Jail, where he remains in custody. His bond has been set at $5,000, and he is being charged with domestic battery by strangulation.
A court date for T has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
