Fanning Springs firefighters respond to pedestrian accident that left 2 injured

Fanning Springs Fire Rescue (FSFR) officials said they responded to a call at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday for two pedestrians who were hit by a car.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Northwest 168th Lane and Northwest 80th Ave in Fanning Springs.

According to FSFR chief Wallace Taylor, two patients were identified on scene by Levy and Gilchrist County Fire Rescue, an 85-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl.

Levy County Fire Rescue established both patients as trauma alerts and they were transported to a local hospital by Gilchrist County Fire Rescue, according to Taylor.

Florida Highway Patrol officials told TV20 that the two victims were riding a motorized scooter when they were hit by a 2010 Kia Soul.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, all units were cleared from the scene and the investigation was turned over to FHP. This is a developing story that will be updated.
