A fatal crash shut down all southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Davie Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. near mile marker 53, just north of Exit 54 for I-595, State Road 84 and U.S. 441.
Details about the victim’s age, gender and identity have not been released.
Authorities said all southbound lanes were temporarily closed and traffic was backed up to before mile marker 57. The on-ramp was also shut down as emergency crews responded.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
No other details about the crash were immediately released.
