Fatal motorcycle crash under investigation in Charlotte County

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently investigating a crash that killed a 42-year-old North Port man Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, a crash occurred between two North Port men at 2:50 p.m.; one driving a pickup truck and the other on a motorcycle.

Both drivers were heading north on Collingswood Boulevard.

As the truck driver slowed to turn left onto Elmwood Avenue, the motorcyclist went into the southbound lane in an attempt to pass him.

According to FHP, the front of the motorcycle hit the left side of the pickup truck.

FHP said the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
