One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash shut down parts of Northwest Highway 441 Saturday night, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Troopers say an 18-year-old woman from Lake City was driving south on US 441 just after 8:30 p.m. Three other cars were traveling from the opposite direction when she lost control of her vehicle.

Her vehicle crossed into the opposing lane and crashed into a pickup truck driven by a 33-year-old man, troopers said.

The 18-year-old’s vehicle flipped, and two other cars behind the pickup truck were hit by debris from the crash, according to troopers.

The 33-year-old man died at the scene. The 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Alachua Police Department said all northbound and southbound lanes of Northwest US Highway 441 are shut down from Turkey Creek Boulevard to Northwest County Road 237, but lanes have since reopened.
