 Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal traffic crash that occurred around 8:30 p.m. last night on Phillips Highway near Clinton Avenue.

A man in his late 20s was struck by a GMC Yukon while attempting to cross the highway eastbound.

Jacksonville Fire Rescue arrived on scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. The incident marks the 118th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 24th involving a pedestrian.
