One person was killed and another seriously injured following a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on U.S. 19 in the Hudson area.
According to investigators, a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by a 69-year-old Hudson man was traveling northbound on U.S. 19 south of Hudson Avenue. Ahead of the PT Cruiser, a Kia Telluride driven by a 69-year-old Weeki Wachee man and a GMC Sierra driven by a 44-year-old Hernando Beach man were also traveling northbound.
Authorities say the Kia Telluride and GMC Sierra came to a stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection. The PT Cruiser failed to stop and collided with the rear of the Kia, causing it to be pushed forward into the GMC Sierra.
The driver of the PT Cruiser was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Kia sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the GMC Sierra suffered minor injuries and was not transported.
