A female pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Santa Rosa County Thursday morning.
It happened around 6 a.m. on Old Bagdad Highway near Rice Road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a “possible red SUV” was traveling east on Old Bagdad Highway approaching Rice Road while an unidentified female was walking along Old Bagdad Highway.
“The vehicle struck the female near the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then fled the scene,” FHP says in a release.
The female was pronounced dead on-scene by emergency personnel.
FHP says investigators canvassed the area and seized a possible SUV that may have been involved in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
