An 18-year-old Volusia County man is dead after a single-vehicle incident on Thursday caused his car to overturn.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling northbound on Murphy Road, south of Chamberlin Road, just before 9:15 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and overturned.
FHP says the driver was ejected in the process and pronounced dead at the scene.
While the report does not give an exact cause for the incident, FHP notes that the driver was traveling above the posted speed limit and was not wearing a seat belt.
According to the report, there was also a 19-year-old passenger in the car who sustained minor injuries.
This crash remains under investigation.
