Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving two motorcyclists and an alligator on Interstate 4 in Volusia County on Saturday.
A 67-year-old man from DeLeon Springs driving a 2022 Suzuki GSX-R1000R and a 25-year-old woman from Orange City driving a 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 650 were both traveling westbound in the inside lane when they struck an alligator within the lane, FHP said.
The impact with the alligator caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway and the Suzuki rider struck a tree, troopers said.
Both motorcyclists were transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, FHP said.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was dispatched to assist with the injured alligator.
The crash remains under investigation.
