FHP: 71-year-old dies after his own truck rolls over him

A 71-year-old man was killed Friday when his own truck rolled over him, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the report, the man and his passenger were reversing out of a private driveway, but the truck wouldn’t shift into drive. The victim then put the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado in neutral and crawled under the truck.

The truck rolled backwards over the man, eventually stopping in a ditch with the man still pinned under it.

The passenger reportedly couldn’t reach the brakes in time to stop the incident.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene.

FHP is continuing to investigate.
