FHP: Driver dead after crashing into median pillar on SR-429

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a deadly crash along SR-429 in Lake County.

Troopers say this happened just before 8 p.m. on Saturday near Mile Marker 44 in Sorrento.

They say the 65-year-old Apopka man was traveling northbound when he ran off the roadway, crashing into the overpass median pillar.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP says it does not know what caused the driver to run off the road, and the crash remains under investigation.
