A driver is recovering from injuries after crashing into a closed entrance ramp on the Selmon Expressway, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

In a news release, the agency explains 55-year-old man from Brandon was driving a 2017 Infiniti Q60s at around 2:20 p.m. Monday going eastbound on the Selmon Expressway (State Road 618) express lanes in the inside left lane.

FHP says the lane he was driving in entered the westbound SR-618 entrance ramp, which was reportedly closed near Mile Marker 14.

The driver then lost control of the car, making it go through the first barrier arm and sideswipe the concrete divider wall. He did not take any evasive actions, the agency said.

According to the release, the vehicle eventually stopped after colliding with the main barrier arm.

The 55-year-old is said to be suffering non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
