The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in Leesburg in which one person was extricated from a vehicle and sent to the hospital.

The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. Saturday in the area of South Street, according to the Leesburg Fire Department.

Engine 64 arrived on scene first and confirmed one vehicle on its side with one patient entrapped. Engine 61 and Ladder 63 arrived shortly after.

Engines 61 and 64 worked together to stabilize the vehicle and extricate the patient. Ladder 63 assumed incident command. The patient was transported as a trauma alert in stable condition.
