FHP: Police officer injured after multi-car crash.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a police officer sustained minor injuries after a multi-car crash in Panama City Beach.

Troopers said the incident happened around 4:21 a.m. Saturday morning. They said an SUV and a marked Panama City Beach Police patrol car were both stopped at the red light at the intersection of Back Beach Road and State Road 79.

Officials said a passenger van was driving towards the stopped cars and red light but failed to stop in time. They said the van sideswiped the passenger side of the PCBPD car and the driver side of the other SUV. Troopers said the van then came to a controlled stop.

Troopers said the van driver, a man from Nashville, and the driver of the SUV, a man from Panama City, were not injured in the incident. They reported the Panama City Beach Police officer sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Troopers said they were assisted at the scene by Bay County EMS, Beach Police, and Beach Fire.
