LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —
The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who reached speeds of up to 140 miles per hour before crashing into another vehicle in Lehigh Acres, all while having 20 pounds of marijuana in the car, troopers say.
Troopers say they attempted to pull over a BMW for speeding at State Road 82 and Bell Boulevard Sunday night.
The driver made a U-turn, hitting speeds of up to 140 miles per hour, and then lost control, crashing into a stopped car at 40th Street Southwest.
The driver fled into the woods following the crash. The occupants of the struck vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers also say they found 20 pounds of marijuana in plastic baggies in the suspect’s SUV.
