FHP: Tampa woman dies following collision with garbage truck

The 41-year-old was a passenger in the car when the accident happened.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of North Nebraska Avenue and Sinclair Hills Road. According to FHP, the 41-year-old woman was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla driven by a 19-year-old Tampa woman. The car was going northbound on Nebraska Avenue. 

At the same time, a 46-year-old Gibsonton man was driving a Mack garbage truck southbound on Nebraska Avenue. 

When the Toyota driver reached the intersection at Sinclair Hills Road, she turned left into the path of the garbage truck. The two vehicles collided as a result. 

The 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. She later died from those injuries, FHP said.
