A Florida Highway Patrol chase on Thursday ended with both the suspect vehicle and trooper’s patrol car crashing after going airborne.
A trooper tried to pull over a speeding Kia Optima on Interstate 4 near McIntosh Road, which is near Plant City, at 2:41 a.m., but it sped away, according to FHP.
The chase continued onto the exit ramp, where both vehicles missed a curve in the road, struck a concrete construction barrier and went airborne. They crashed into a ditch on the east side of McIntosh Road.
FHP said multiple people got out of the Kia and ran off in different directions. The trooper lost sight of them.
The trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
