FHP: Truck runs off roadway on I-95 NB in Pompano Beach; driver dies at hospital

A driver has died after his truck ran off the roadway Thursday morning, into a ditch off Interstate 95 in Pompano Beach, authorities confirmed.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck was heading north on I-95, approaching Copans Road, when it collided with the right barrier wall and then ran off the roadway into a ditch.

Troopers said the driver was transported toNorth Broward Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A witness traveling behind the truck told troopers that the driver ran off the roadway for no apparent reason.

Troopers are investigating whether the driver suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.

FHP officials confirmed that the right lane of I-95 northbound is shut down as investigation remains ongoing.
